MERN Developer

Position Summary

The Software Engineer builds full-stack features — backend and frontend — across the Simplex Suite platform (simplexsuite.com), our restaurant technology ecosystem of branded ecommerce websites and mobile apps, Order, Kitchen and Delivery Management, Self-Ordering Kiosks, CRM, Loyalty, Call Center, Maps, and Analytics. You build backend services in Node.js and NestJS over MySQL and PostgreSQL, and frontend in Next.js, React, and TypeScript, delivering features end to end under the guidance of the Senior Software Engineer.

Security is not optional in this role — it is how you work. You write secure code by default, take no shortcuts, and treat every key, endpoint, and log line as a security decision. The platform handles orders, customers, and payments for global QSR brands at scale, so a complete security mindset — secure SDLC, data protection, and auditability — is a core expectation, not an add-on. You report to the Senior Software Engineer and grow your craft through their mentorship and code review.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development

•     Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs in Node.js and NestJS, within a microservices architecture.

•     Design and query relational data in MySQL and PostgreSQL — clean schemas, safe migrations, and performant queries.

•     Write clean, well-structured, testable code following the team’s standards and patterns.

Frontend Development

•     Build responsive, accessible frontend features in Next.js, React, and TypeScript for the branded ecommerce websites and web apps.

•     Integrate frontend with backend APIs securely and handle state, validation, and error cases properly.

Secure Coding & Data Security

•     Apply the Security-First Engineering practices above on every task — secrets in the vault, secured endpoints and collections, no XSS, full interaction logging, and data protection.

•     Raise security concerns early and never ship a known vulnerability — flag it to the Senior Software Engineer.

APIs & Integrations

•     Build and consume secured APIs and integrations with POS, payment gateways, delivery, mapping, and martech, with proper auth and validation.

•     Document API contracts clearly and keep collections secret-free.

Testing & Code Quality

•     Write automated tests — unit and integration — and treat testing as part of done.

•     Participate in code reviews, act on feedback, and keep code maintainable and consistent.

•     Work within Git, CI/CD pipelines, and the team’s engineering workflow.

Collaboration & Delivery

•     Deliver assigned features and fixes to sprint commitments, working closely with the Senior Software Engineer.

•     Collaborate with the Business Analyst on requirements and SQA on testing, and surface blockers early.

•     Learn continuously — grow your craft and security skills through mentorship and review.
